Family Matinee Show – An Dannsa Dub

** ALL AGES WELCOME **

After raising the roof of the ballroom two years running, An Dannsa Dub return to Barrel House Ballroom on Sunday 8th November.

But this time, as part of a special initiative to open up our venue to the next generation, An Dannsa Dub are proud to present a family-friendly matinee performance alongside their full evening show.

Designed for younger ears (and their grown-ups), this relaxed daytime session offers all the energy and musicianship of the band’s evening gig, in a more accessible format – reduced capacity, reduced volume and two lively 30-minute sets perfect for shorter attention spans.

It’s a chance for families to experience real, high-quality live music together, far from algorithms, screens, and throwaway trends. Instead, expect a joyful introduction to powerful rhythms, live instruments, and the shared magic of a crowd moving to music.

Rooted in tradition but bursting with modern energy, An Dannsa Dub bring a sound that connects cultures, generations, and dancefloors, making this the perfect first gig experience for young music lovers.
Bring the kids. Start them right.

DOORS: 2:30PM
1ST SET : 3PM – 3:30PM
INTERVAL : 3:30PM – 3:50PM
2ND SET : 3:50PM – 4:20PM

Blending traditional Scottish folk with dub reggae and modern dance music, An Dannsa Dub create a powerful, genre-defying sound rooted in ancient Gaelic and West African rhythms. Their name translates from Gaelic as “The Dub Dance”, and their performances channel the communal energy of a cèilidh with the deep, immersive pulse of a sound system session.

Praised by Mungo’s Hi Fi as “a thoroughly original and exciting” fusion of styles, the band has built a reputation as one of the most electrifying live acts on the UK festival circuit. Highlights include wowing a 10,000-strong crowd at Boomtown Fair and headlining a sold-out show at Celtic Connections.

Their self-titled EP An Dannsa Dub (2021) earned widespread acclaim and airplay across BBC platforms, with support from tastemakers like Don Letts and Tom Robinson. Their debut album Air An Turas (released March 2023) showcases a wealth of collaborations and further cements their place at the forefront of the global dub-folk movement.

Expect a seamless, high-energy fusion of tradition and innovation as An Dannsa Dub bring their unstoppable live show back to Totnes.
